Maurice Bishop, a powerful, spoken word Poet currently serving in the United States Army. Published Author & Motivational Speaker.

I told this abused woman, please don’t lie, but look me in the eyes…

And tell me how many hits will you take before you die?

After blowing her black & mild smoke to the sky…

Her reply was, he loves me too much to let my soul fly…

The next day this woman sits home alone in a deep abyss while her stomach turns and twist…

Like wringing a wet rag with a tight grip…

Emotionally, mentally, and physically sick…

Blood drips down her lips from the violent kiss of his clench fist…

Bruised arms, bruised wrists, and a bruised hip from a few kicks…

All over a few texts from a new chick that her boyfriend had fooled with…

She cursed him out because the woman he screwed with was the woman she was cool with…

The more she yelled the more he became abusive…

Beat her with a broomstick and started choking her till her voice became muted…

Love makes you doing crazy things, but this type of love made her foolish…

Every sound of her body being hit is like a disturbing music…

So accustom to the abusiveness his beatings became therapeutic…

So I told this abused woman, please don’t lie, but look me in the eyes…

And tell me how many hits will you take before you die?

After blowing her black & mild smoke to the sky…

Her reply was he loves me too much to let my soul fly…

So the next day she gets smacked in her face because his dinner wasn’t cooked…

Body to the ground so she frightened and shooked…

Hair gripped from his left hand, and followed with a right hook…

She say she’s going to leave, but he reads her like an open book…

He shouts, “You can’t leave or breathe without me…

Can’t sleep and your heart can’t beat without me…

No man loves you like I love you…

Or can touch you like I touch you…”

Like the submissive woman she is she believed every word…

And was manipulated even more by the kisses on her curves…

Lips, neck, back, but before sex is served…

He gave her flowers to compensate the beatings he thought she deserved…

I told this abused woman, please don’t lie, but look me in the eyes…

And tell me how many hits will you take before you die?

After blowing her black & mild smoke to the sky…

Her reply was he loves me too much to let my soul fly…

The next day she found out she was pregnant with his child…

When she told him the news his faceial expression wasn’t a smile…

Told her the baby wasn’t his, but he’s only in denial…

So she shot back, “You are foul for denying your only child!!”

Before she said another word she was smacked to the floor…

She got up and tried to run to the door…

But he grabbed her by the hair till she fell on all fours…

Kicked her in the stomach till the baby couldn’t live anymore…

She cried and begged for mercy, but mercy wasn’t there…

Although, it’s his child, he completely didn’t care…

Didn’t care of the words she said because he wanted her dead…

So he took the .38 from his hip, and pointed the .38 to her head…

He pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed…

So she quickly got up to stand, and out the door she ran…

On this day, I told this abused woman, please don’t lie, but look me in the eyes…

And tell me how many hits will you take before you die?

After blowing her black & mild smoke to the sky…

With tears in her eyes her reply was I don’t know, but it was enough for my child to be dead inside…
