Key To My Heart

I'm Not In Love - 10cc

In life, we get are hands dirty, our names smeared, and our hearts broken and sorely betrayed, at times. The alternative is to stay hidden away, and never really fully be alive.

Fear of Loss

Joy unspoken

lifts me high!

But, fear is also

vaguely nigh;

Love, as such, is from

what dreams are made!

Still, nightmares of loss

draw down my shade;

Neon Heart

He is all I dare

need in life,

though, inside my mind

wages war and strife!

He whispers softly

into my heart,

Yet, scars of past

quickly end this start.

My heart yearns for the

freedom to dance by his side,

But, fear of heartbreak

halts the reins of this ride!

      Thank you, Coffeequeeen...

We just need to make sure we stay away from the dangerous ones, or the ones that wear masks and are merely feigning love in order to take advantage of us, and to laugh with their friends when they intentionally break our hearts.

      Hugs!

Yes, the fear of heartbreak can stop us loving someone, or being loved. But I hope some day I will meet the man of my dreams! Right now I have my little dog though, and he gives me plenty of love. That was a beautiful poem Tamara.

There are many sad stories of love gone wrong. Then there are many beautiful stories of love so wonderful there is nothing like it. I have been on both sides of the fence and the heartbreak that you mention is painful. The love that is on the other side is powerful. How to get there I am not sure. Like you said when your not looking love may find you. This writing is an amazing look into sadness and loneliness. I think whatever you write about will make people think. A wonderful read on this Wednesday evening. Hope all is well. I see you have made some incredible accomplishments here on HubPages I am sure you are going places. I am glad to be your friend.

      Mamerto,

Yes, loving is the best feeling ever, but to lose that love (thru death, or finding out they were a Narcissist) is unbearably painful. Thank you so much for your lovely visit!

      Hugs,

      Tamara

Lovely comment, Flourish, and I do agree with you! I think that love is always worth it even if we have been jaded by several people. I believe that one day of true love outshines a year of falsities, and betrayal, and on...

Even if one's heart has been hurt, it's worth it to love again. To allow yourself to be permanently jaded and feel ruined by one person's maltreatment is to let them win. Most of us are tender on the inside, even if the exterior is tough.

Ah, yes; love can be a tricky thing as there are many different experiences, and also various upbringings that create for individual expectations, fears, and dreams. Thank you for your thought-provoking comment!

Bill, your comment is so encouraging to me, and very wise! I am so inspired by you saying that when you weren't looking is when you found Bev. This gives me hope. I am not looking, either, as I've become a bit of a hermit, lately. But, as soon as I start getting back out into the community, I will not look, either, and this way someone kind will come along :-) No, you are never rambling, but all of your words are very important to me. Thank you!

      Hugs,

      Tamara

I once thought I needed someone by my side to be complete. I no longer believe that. Eight years ago I found Bev, when I wasn't really looking for a relationship. It turns out I don't need Bev, but I do cherish her and have found she brings out the best in me. I hesitate to say I'm happier because of her, because that is giving my power to someone else. Am I rambling? Sorry about that....anyway, I loved your poem, and I appreciate the human being you are. Peace and blessings to you always!
