Romantic First Dance Song For A Wedding: Josh Groban's "For Always"
My husband and I are a very romantic couple. Our story has an interesting twist in that we knew each other 35 years ago, and reconnected again in 2004. He is the love of my life, and we are aware that we lost a lot of time together. Because of that, we try to make all the time we do have together as romantic and special as possible. When we first started dating, my now husband gave me a Josh Groban CD and asked me to pay special attention to the words in certain songs. I was hooked! We are huge Josh Groban fans now. His music is just SO romantic, and so are we.
When we got married in 2010, we were looking for a song that was romantic, but that would also fit us. We didn't want a cookie-cutter song that 1000 other couples had used. We both like Josh Groban, and have all of his CDs. One day, I was listening to a Josh Groban CD in my car and heard "For Always." At the time, I didn't know it was from the movie A.I., and since I have never seen that movie, I only knew that Josh Groban sang it.
When I listened to the words, it brought tears to my eyes because it felt like it fit us perfectly. My husband ( then my fiancé) travels quite a bit for his business. I am unable to go with him due to vacation constraints with my job, and I have three teenaged children who need me around to drive them to activities, etc. Many times I dream about Chuck while he is away...and therefore the first few lines of the song hold true for me..."I close my eyes, and there in the shadows, I see your light. You come to me out of my dreams..."
Later in the song, the lyrics are about being together forever: "from this day on, I know that I'll never be alone" That too, was perfect for us. We are both Christians, and when I pledged my love to him on our wedding day, I knew it would be for eternity. I had been married once before, to a man who was not a Christian, and it was not a good marriage. I never thought I would find someone that I would want to be married to forever. But I knew that with Chuck. We did use it for our first dance song, and it was perfect. If you want to hear Josh Groban sing it, please play the video below.
And may you find (or have found) your perfect love, as well as your perfect first dance song!
Please feel free to share your first dance song in the comments. I am a romantic at heart and would love to know what song you chose during those very special moments.
