Friends: Why I Love Them

Updated on October 26, 2012

Tonight I was hanging out at home minding my own business surfing the net while my girlfriend was watching T.V. I was stalking people on Facebook when the door burst open and this 8 foot tall woman with huge jugs shoots through the door and starts wagging her caboose. It was none other that my good friend David. He was on his way to a halloween party and decided we would get a kick out his bearded lady costume. He continued to model for my girl and I as we laughed out heads off. It is not everyday that a huge bearded lady breaks into my home. This made me wonder, what would I do without my pals. I honestly couldn't tell you, cause I wouldn't know what to do.

Good Times

I once saw a quote that read "A good friend will bail you out of jail. A great friend will be locked up with you." The first thing that popped into my head was my friend Mike whose nickname is "McNasty" if that gives you some idea of the shenanigans we get into together. We first met about 8 years ago when we was working at Larry's Giant Subs and we would be extremely unproductive in the back together. We had a whole system set up so if the boss lady was on her way back we would know. We even had certain tasks set up so if she did get back there without our knowledge it would look like we were really working. Sometimes we would ditch work all together and go bowling. I look back at these times I had and think of all the fun times and how if it was not for my pals these times would not have happened and even if they did, they would not be one tenth as fun as they really were. Now, my time at Larry's is just one instance in many of the fun things that my pals I did, if I tried to list all the stories there would not be enough room on the internet for them.

Good Times With Pals

They are There for You

One reason I love my friends is because they are my comrades, my partners in crime, and my gang. They really are what ever I need them to be. When I am down they take me out and do what it takes to cheer me up. When I do something that I shouldn't they punch me in the face. Ok. they don't go that far, but they do punch me mentally. I consider myself lucky, I may not have a 1,000 friends on Facebook but the ones I do have know my birthday with out Facebooks aid. They have my number and call often. Some wonder why I am friends with people like my buddy McNasty, he may be crude dude and a pervert sometimes, but when its on the line he is the first guy I know that will step up to the plate and take one for the team. That is why I am friends with him, because I know he will be what I need when I need it. He will be a listener, or he will be a jerk and tell me to get off my butt and stop feeling sorry for myself and I can always count on him for that.

What Else is There?

When I think about it, there is truly no other reason to live than to do good deeds, learn, and love your friends and family. So friends in my view is part one of three pillars of life. Which is a big part. All I think about is all the good times when my friends were with me and all the bad times they brought me back up. They can brighten up my day when it has been a heck of a day. Just like tonight when I had a rough day and my crazy buddy David came as a gorilla girl and really turned my bad day around in about 8 seconds. Which is one of millions of reasons why I love my friends.

One of life's greatest gifts is a true friend who even when they don't understand, stands by you anyway. Your hub is a great reminder.

My Mother always said if you have 5 loyal friends, you are a lucky person. Good friends are hard to get (and keep).

You are lucky to have this great friend.
