Funny Love Article - Before and After

Updated on October 12, 2012

Oh what a feeling…. Do you remember when you first met your Partner? Everything was blissful and in slow motion. The tender looks, the caring touch, the thoughtful text messages and calls, but after a while, it wasn’t so.

This is a lighthearted article, but happens to be a reality with some couples. I am writing about situations in some relationships – how it used to be (Before) and how it changed in a matter of months or years (After).

Lets start with the Gentlemen.

♥¸.·*

.

1st Before

At work, you say to the Manager, “I can’t wait to get home and spend time with my darling wife”.

After

You say to the boss “Is there any over-time I can do?”

2nd Before

In those days, in restaurants you would happily go along with her if she chose the most expensive meal on the menu. You’d smile and even ask if she wanted anything more.

After

You remind her of the price list as she is reading through the menu.

3rd Before

Both of you finish talking on the phone and you say “ok dear. Put the phone down”, she says, “no you put it down”. This happens for a few minutes until you both reluctantly put the phone down.

After

You put the phone down while she’s in mid-conversation and explain to her later that you thought she had finished talking.

4th Before

She used to get lovely Birthday gifts from you. Flowers, chocolates, bling–bling, Lingerie, vouchers etc.

After

Sometimes you buy her a new hoover, kettle or dishwasher as her gift.

5th Before

When she cooked you a meal and it was burnt a little. You smiled and said it tasted delicious and asked her not to worry about the little burning.

After

If she cooks and it’s a little burnt, you look at it and say you’ll have something else to eat.

.......and Now the Ladies......

1st Before

In the evening, the Table is laid out nicely. Food in lovely dishes waiting to be served – and you actually serve it to him with a smile, when he arrives.

After

He walks in and you say “your food’s in the oven” and continue watching the TV.

2nd Before

If you own the house. You always say to him, “be comfortable dear, this is your home. What’s mine is yours, feel free” etc.

After

With a straight face, you tell him to keep the toilet seat down as he is not the only one living in the house.

3rd Before

You hear his car pull into the Drive and think to yourself – “My sweet heart is home”.

After

You hear the same car pull into the Drive and sigh to yourself - “Oh God, He’s home”!

.

4th Before

He comes home and you ask him how the day went, while massaging his shoulders etc He smiles and is grateful in his heart that he has such a loving wife.

After

As soon as he sits down, you tell him all the things that need to be done in the house and remind him of all the things he hasn’t done. He cringes and wonders why he didn’t hang out with a friend, before coming home.

5th Before

You took pride in how you looked and made sure you always had your hair done nicely.

After

You no longer make an effort and get upset when he doesn’t pay you compliments or if he innocently looks at another woman who is just walking past, but happens to look gorgeous.

My husband and I have been married 12 years and we can't go to bed at the same time. We start talking to each other and by the time we shut up the alarm goes. The before still had us up until the alarm went off but for different reasons. I'm not sure if this is a bad 'after' or just an interesting shift.

Hi LadyE Hows my hp angel? This is so cute. It is right on. I must tell you this. My David is coming 'alive'. He is going to return home a much better man. I look forward to 'not' saying yikes he is home. Now What? God is good. God is Faithful. God is a huge, rich, awesome God. If all would keep God first place in marriage I think a marriage could be eternal bliss. I know a few that are after many, many years together. I strive for that marriage.

Fun Hearted hub lady e. I love ya. I was thinking about you so popped over to say hello. Cjeerio mate' for now. Your friend and sister in Christ. + + +

This is hilarious! ...and very true. But it's good to be honest in a relationship, and that tends to happen more after a while, so that's a good thing!

Dear Lady E : It is sad how time changes relationships. As we get older we sometimes become less loveable with the ones we cherish and love so dearly. However the fear of losing someone we love sometimes snaps us back into realizing what we should not be taking for granted. If only honeymoons would last much longer , life would be even better. GBY Dear Heart. Wonderful hub. Your work is always a joy to read.

Hi Stars439 - Thanks for sharing those comments. It is sad when people change but so lovely to see people who celebrate 25, 30, 40 years of marriage. I appreciate your kind comments.

      Regards
