Garden Party Wedding Favors DIY

We thought this was fun, and it only cost about 50 cents per nest. It's a bird nest with M&M eggs. The green nesting material was purchased from Michaels and one bag made at least 50 nests. Just wrap it in a circle, kind of sqoosh it a little bit to keep it in place then add M&Ms for eggs. This nesting material (excelsior) comes in lots of colors so you can choose one to match your wedding colors. For our sample we glued the entire nest to some little birch sticks and attached a little tag with a date.

All of the favors pictured here were for a garden themed wedding party. Little bird nests, wrapped gifts and seed packets in flower pots were all used during the different events to keep the theme going throughout.

This little pot cost about 50 cents at WalMart. We spray painted it yellow, stuffed it full of excelsior then made seed packets. Stores that carry florist supplies like Michaels may also carry a floral paint which comes in a large variety of colors and it is very fast drying.

For seed packets use a 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of computer paper, (60 pound) copy and paste different flower pictures from the internet randomly all over your paper. You can also insert the names of the bride and groom and the date of the shower or wedding. Fold the paper into seed packet size and glue the edges. Punch a hole in the top and tie with a ribbon. Buy flower or vegetable seeds and place a few into each packet. Be sure to print the instructions and the flower variety on a little slip of paper and insert it into the seed packet.

Place a little pot at each table setting, perhaps along with the edible M&M nest.

This is a fancy wrapped package for a small favor. We used colorful pictures from the internet on 20 lb computer paper. Dates and names can be added and a tiny ribbon with artificial butterfly or bird to complete the garden look. This size computer paper will wrap a CD, photos, small box of candy and other little favors.

These are all fun, colorful and inexpensive touches that you can make yourself, save money and gear toward any theme or color scheme.
