How Your Same-Sex Marriage Affects Me

Updated on July 7, 2015

I've recently come to realize that same-sex-marriage affects me the same way teen pregnancy has affected me. You see, with teen pregnancy, a child is born (though, sadly, they're often murdered by their mothers) in a dysfunctional family dynamic, i.e., they often grow up with one parent missing in their lives, their fathers.

This significant disadvantage explains why so many grow up uneducated, destitute, and/or abused. These end up suffering, as well, from a whole host of mental disorders from Major Depression to Chronic Anxiety and everything else in between. Worst still, these are more likely to either be the victims or perpetrators of crime as contemporary studies and the dramatic jump in prison populations clearly show. It's no wonder, then, that our generation has witnessed higher rates of suicide, rape, murder, larceny, etc., etc., among young adults than in generations passed!

Sadly, we will now witness the rise of a new generation who will grow up without their fathers or mothers as more and more gay couples raise children. All of this will lead us to a world filled with more war, violence, abuse, strife, discord, animosity, hatred, bigotry, inequality, injustice, abject squalor, preventable disease and depravity than ever seen before.

      @ Joseph:

First, "...they often grow up with one parent missing in their lives, their fathers.

Why do so many fathers (talking about heterosexual families here) feel so disenfranchised from family life that they give up in isolation?

Why do so many women (talking about heterosexual families here) feel they will be much better off as a single parent and able to teach their boys the masculine aspects of life?

      Open your eyes, Joseph!

Secondly: If you think the fathers are absent from family life, why do you suppose there could be a lack of education, food and finance? And who do you suppose would be doing the abuse bit if the father is likely to be absent? Seems illogical to me.

If you say "host of mental disorders from Major Depression to Chronic Anxiety and everything else in between" are on the increase; and there's a " dramatic jump in prison populations," then with the majority of the population being heterosexual in orientation, the onus should fall more heavily on them. For sure, there will be a proportion of homosexual people amongst them.... but not disproportionately.

You should consider that "....higher rates of suicide, rape, murder, larceny, etc., etc., among young adults than in generations passed!," and "....a world filled with more war, violence, abuse, strife, discord, animosity, hatred, bigotry, inequality, injustice, abject squalor, preventable disease and depravity than ever seen before" will come primarily from ignorant, bigoted, hypocritical people who can't put their minds and energies into rearing their naturally-born children.

Fortunately, there are some very loving and unselfish homosexual couples in this world who love and cherish the young people committed to their care. These are generally wonderful young people who will grow up broad-minded, tolerant of variation and difference, ready and willing to spread the love they have received from their folks - whether those folks be Mum and Dad, Mum and Pete, Pete and Frank, Jill and Frances, or whoever. Just caring and capable parents no less.

For God's sake, Joseph, when are you going to step back down to earth off that pedestal you have built for yourself. There is fun and laughter, joy and union amongst beautiful people whom you have never even thought of meeting. Come and join us!

The logic in this...piece... is severely flawed, if not totally absent. The correlations stated are patently absurd. I thought this cite had standards.

Any proof of any of this, Joe? Namely, the murderous intent of teenage parents, as well as the increase in inequality etc from gay people raising children.

I'd really like to know how that would be caused. Given that those who are against equality are contributing to inequality, bigotry, hatred, injustice, animosity.

There are numerous studies that have proven that children raised by same-sex parents develop normally, grow to be contributing citizens, and are often more empathetic than their two-gendered parent raised counterparts - I'll bring the link if you answer the comment...

ANyway - how does ANY of this affect you personally? My wife and I raising our daughter and being legally married affects you...how?? You still never answered the question...
