How to Choose a Bridal Shower Theme

Updated on June 3, 2013

A bridal shower is the time when the bride-to-be gets together with family, friends and acquaintances and is "showered" with gifts in celebration and preparation for a life new chapter. It's also a time where the bride can take a break from all the planning, and just enjoy herself.

Having a theme for the shower is a nice way to make it even more enjoyable. When deciding on a theme, you want to pick something that the bride will enjoy, as well as the guest.

Ask yourself if you want something fun, classy and/or unique to your personality, and go from there.

Also take into consideration what type of food you want. For instance, you may not want to have barbeque if you are having a tea party themed shower.

Creative Bridal Shower Themes

You can give your guest a small taste of what's to come on your big wedding day by having your bridal shower carry that same theme. However, it's common to have a completely different theme unique to the bridal shower.

Here are some examples:

  • Luau
  • Spa Party
  • Tea Party
  • Cocktail
  • 1970's, 80's, 90's
  • Seasonal
  • Beach
