How to save your Marriage and avoid Divorce

Updated on May 22, 2010

Have you recently done something wrong within your marriage and finally realized it? It may not be too late to save your marriage, providing your husband or wife has some heart left for you. You might have been working too many hours to pay attention to your wife or maybe you were at the wrong place during the wrong time. Infidelity is a major reason why most couples break up but most people can get over it after time. To save your marriage, you not only have to act your best - but you need to prove that you can change just by your actions. Here are a few things you can do depending on the specific situation you are in

  • Distance yourself away from your spouse. Did you know that being away from them will make them grow fonder of you. This is true because they really are missing you. It’s like being around someone for a part of our lives, and suddenly they are gone. Don’t wait too long though or this could back fire. Three days is the best.
  • Bring her flowers or you can bring him that antique football figurine he has always wanted. Be sure you do this when you come back, actually - right after. The trick is to wrap it as a gift and leave it inside the home just before you come over. This will give them a chance to think over about taking you back.
  • Always apologize. It doesn’t matter if it was your fault or not. If they are planning on divorcing you, make sure you get the point across that you still want to be with them. If you think it is worth it, then so be it because it might be time to move on.
