Is an Affair the End of your Relationship?
An affair can definitely end a relationship, there is no doubt about that. However, sometimes it can be a “wake up call” to both of you that your relationship needs work.
Cheating is the ultimate betrayal and no one wants to be cheated on, nor should they. Cheating is not the main problem of a relationship, though, it is a symptom of larger problems that need to be addressed.
An affair can make both of you hit rock bottom. This is when the real work begins to rebuild your relationship if you want to save it. Sometimes trials and tribulations such as an affair can make your relationship stronger. This is because you decide right there and then that you want to be together and that you truly love each other.
Once the affair has been revealed, the next step is to completely rework your relationship. You need to start from square one and build your relationship back up to make it stronger than it was before. You will need to spend some time away from each other which will allow you a different perspective on things to allow time for both of you to heal and work together to repair your relationship.
The next thing that needs to happen is for you to pinpoint how you got to this point. You will then need to work on the problem(s) together. Once you have done this, you need to begin again. Date each other. Rediscover what it was that brought you together in the first place. Remember, you don’t want to rebuild the same faulty relationship because you want to make it better to avoid making those same mistakes again.
Rebuilding a relationship after adultery will be difficult, but it will also be one of the most satisfying things you have ever done. There are many resources out there to help you, and seeking help is one of the best things you can do for your relationship.
