Learning to trust again after betrayal

Trust can be a very hard thing. It can even be harder when you were betrayed so many times in the past. When it comes to relationships trust is essential.

We all start off young and innocent. We believe anything and have 100% trust. Then as we get older we face people and things that build that trust down. If we are not around the right people we get hurt. We get hurt so much that we lose trust in everybody.

We think the whole world is against us. We enter relationships and it starts off good but then fear and doubt find it's way in. We think of the past and read into every little thing. We develop a negative mindset because we arre stil holding on to baggage from the past.

First we need to realize that just because it happened and could happen does not mean that it is going to. Just because someone cheated on you in the past does not mean that your new boyfriend or every other guy will. There are good guys out there. Not all guys cheat.

Second you need to release what happened to you. Forgiving and forgetting is hard. You have to let what happened in the past stay in the past. What happened between one guy back in college is different than the guy now. Each guy is different.

Trust is hard but it could be rebuild. Think positive and give someone the benefit of the doubt. Once again without trust you have nothing.

There is no doubt it is painful and no doubt that it makes one very cautious in the future. Your suggestions are right on, although certainly easier said than done. :)
