Marriage Styles According to Restaurant

Updated on April 17, 2010

I write a lot about food and intimacy. Particularly, I write about how to use particular foods to increase sexual health and libido. It lead me to start thinking about how a marriage could be related to food, no better yet, to restaurant styles. What would your marriage be?

Fast Food Restaurant

Convenient, but bland and not very exciting. There is a marriage like this at every corner and no one likes them, yet they exist and keep popping up all over the place. You have to always double check to see if what you are getting is really what you wanted. This type of marriage is probably a bit dysfunctional and not the best for a healthy, happy, life. If you are in this sort of marriage, your mate will probably go through the motions, but never seem truly interested in really being there with you and for you.

Truck Stop Diner

The Truck Stop Diner Marriage can be noisy, trashy, and messy. It could be a marriage that is no frills, but very grounded type of marriage. Or it could be a marriage that would make an award winning Jerry Springer show. Your mate is probably ready to ride you hard all day and night, which I wouldn't complain about that. But, it would be nice to jazz things up and enjoy some of the finer things in life sometimes too though.

Family Restaurant

This can be a loud, and colorful, yet noisy and messy like the truck stop diner. There probably isn't a large variety on the menu, only the basics, but there is happiness and comfort. You and your mate are focused on revolving around the kids and might be missing a lot in each other. Chances are this kind of marriage can make it over the long haul, but may be lacking in the sensual/intimate areas of life and need some work at balancing adult time with child time.

Up Scale Restaurant

Very formal with excellent service and probably delicious food. Who can complain about that? A marriage like this is very polite and respectful of each other, and will tend superbly to each other's needs. It could be a very sensual marriage. But, all the formality can keep your marriage on the shallow side. It's not a place where you can get noisy or trashy if the mood strikes you and you must always look nice which isn't always preferred either. Plus, you it can be very expensive which could be draining over the long haul.

Banquet or Buffet Style Restaurant

Here is my ideal type of restaurant for my marriage. There is a little bit of everything. I can dress up, But I'll also still fit in just fine if I show up on a more casual basis. There is endless variety to choose from so I can pick according to my mood.  Whether I am looking for comfort, or something extra spicy, I'll be sure to find it.  The nicer buffets, which is course the ones I would go to, will satisfy my need for respect and service to an admirable degree. And,  I can still get messy and a bit trashy when I feel like it and I won't get kicked out. Yes, this is where I would put my marriage and this is a great place to be! Now, has anyone seen the dessert cart?
