Now That Was Embarassing

Marc is a journalist and event planner who has long been involved in the cultural world of Durham. Can also find me on other social media.

Nothing like being in a public library and having your computer go off....It's just wrong....

Especially when the library is on a college campus, and you are a middle age man....All of a sudden, you have young bloods (men and women) turning around and looking at you with that who is this loser stare....and shaking of the head.....

Oh well, it could have been worse...The computer could have been smoking instead of making a crazy noise....Yes, it was whining and people were looking at me like I was going to explode at any moment...It's funny trying to look all innocent when it's clearly you making the noise...Doesn't work too effectively...But at least I tried to make it seem like it wasn't me making all that racket....

Just have to be sure that doesn't happen too often...Happened a couple of times already....Also happened at a friend's popular sandwich shop near one of my jobs....

Oh well, hopefully it doesn't happen again......Just another one of life's embarrassing moments....

What embarrassing moments have you had and how did you cope with them? Let's talk about embarrassment and how we escape it......

Hi Marc, Yes that would be embarrassing. You can't control the computer though. Once while I was in church and all was silent I realized I forgot to shut off my phone when it went off playing the tune of "The Godfather". I couldn't shut it off fast enough. All the teenagers that were sitting next to me started laughing, not out loud, but the pew was shaking. lol I couldn't leave, by then everyone knew it was mine. I shut it off finally and sat there with my face as red as a tomato. After that I got into the habit of just leaving my phone home. Thanks for your story.
