One Summer Night's Passion

Updated on March 25, 2013

The summer's day has turned to night

and butterflies now rest from flight

The evening moon is in the sky

and now its only you and I

My heart is full of love for you

for all you are and all you do

for the passion you have shared with me

the way your touch still stirs deeply

in tangled sheets and our bodies bare

reflecting on our passion shared

I look into your loving eyes

knowing they could never lie

A gentle breeze, the scent of rain

blows cool across the window pane

a welcome relief as passions heat

still lingers in my mind so sweet

your soft cheek against my chest

my arms embrace you as we rest

truly this time for me the best

with out a word our love confessed

though time has passed and years gone by

we've shared so much within our lives

The joy I've known in a love so true

and cherish each moment I'll spend with you

SA Lawrence

Thanks Ardie, poetry for me is nothing but an expression of embedded feelings put into words with a sibilance of order. thanks for reading.

thanks very much Rosemary, much of my writing reflects my life and those who are important to me. Perhaps if you revisit, you might take time and read a short I penned some time ago, "My Special Friend" Though it was fictitious, it also has elements from my life. Thanks again for reading and your much appreciated comment.

I love this gentle poem but you know the part I love best is your second last verse. Those moments afterwards are oh so special.

      Voted up for that reason

Beautifully done, masterfully written. Glad to see that there are men who understand and can relate to what it feels like to love a woman. Not just have her, but want her, and cherish her. Outstanding! Linking to my hub. Thank you for sharing.

Stuart, this is such a beautiful poem. Definitely one of your best. It shows the heart true love and speaks in such a gentle manner of passion and reaches the soul. Very well done, to fill me with stirring emotions. Glad you posted this one.
