What is basic decency in life? Rules and regulations!

Updated on November 14, 2013

'Each person has inside a basic decency and goodness. If he listens to it and acts on it, he is giving a great deal of what it is the world needs most. It is not complicated but it takes courage. It takes courage for a person to listen to his own goodness and act on it.'- Pablo Casals

I was watching TV and simply skipping through channels and what I saw in one channel saddened and made me angry. What amazed me was the blatant use of words relating to sex and the anchor who was cheered lustily asked questions not at all suited for a drawing room audience. It was revolting to see the participants fight and rolling over the floor and a guard was there to separate them.

The crowd cheered when the participants screamed at each other and the anchor seemed to have a large fan following, as the crowd kept chanting his name and they were all having a rollicking time. After the morbid details of sexual adventures were over, it was the questioning time for the audience and the questions they asked would have made anyone with a sense of decency cringe with shame. Some women audience exposed themselves to the wild cheering from the audience.

How can one stoop so low? There is always a murky side of human life and we do see certain things which makes you wonder whether there is civilization at all and whether the world is turning savage, with no moralities. Inside every one of you there is an animal which seeks the worst side of human life.

What differentiates you from an animal are that you ignore the animal inside you and bring out the good in you. This is what makes the world secure and civilized; otherwise the world would be a jungle, where you can do anything and everything with no questioning. Why glamorize such sexual misbehavior and make a show of it.

How does the channel allow this and what made the anchor choose sexual meandering as a topic to be discussed? It shows that the world is turning too permissive and what was considered wrong is now accepted as a part of human error. Do not lower your character and live as your negative mind tells you. Yes, to be permissive is a sign of your negative character.

Negative mentality does not have control over your mind and your thoughts and actions run amuck. It does not discern the good from the bad and lives a life of utter lack of character. It seeks relationship outside marriage and does not feel guilty about it. There are no rules and regulations and you do what you like. How can marriage be meaningful when there is callous disregard for the ethics of marriage?

Do not highlight such sexual misadventures and tickle the weaker and carnally prone side of human beings. The show does not in any way enhance the character of the onlookers and it is surprising that there is no opposition to such shows.

Permissiveness will only aggravate your problems and in no way will you feel happy from it. When you are young, the blood runs warm and energetically. Whatever you do seems right for you as you want to live your life to the full and marriage seems constraint to your wandering mind and nothing seems wrong. It is indeed sad that women are also becoming very permissive and it is a danger signal to the culture of any country.

' i believe that we should die with decency so that at least decency will survive.' - Dag Hammarskjold

When you live a life with principles and within the limits of human culture, you will find that you are happy and content. Those who cross the border and choose permissiveness as a way of life will soon drain their energy and their life becomes a drudgery of meaningless existence.
