Position of Power
The First Lady
Most of you as a pastor's wife really have not realized your position. You probably don't know that you are a partner. You probably don't realize that you are a mentor. You probably don't realize that you are a woman of strength. You really don't know that you are uniquely and marvelously made. I know that often you are overwhelmed with everyday life. You are pressed to BE everything to everybody. I know that you are in the spotlight, judged and even being watched your every move. However, you can change your position. You can be the person in charge by marching to your own drummer. You can have a position of power!
How can this occur? Well, it is simple.The first step is to connect consistently with God. Make Him your first priority. Everyday start your day with mediation, prayer, scripture or daily devotional. Use the teachings to commit to saying His truths over your life, consistently. Ask for wisdom to help you in everything that you do. Remember that the spoke WORD has POWER! Become his daughter! This is will keep you in perfect peace. End your day with Him. Make a special time for Him before you rest for the night. Let go of the heaviness of the day by spending this time with HIM. Be consistent, be faithful and be true. God is your Father. A Father always is there for his daughter. This step is the beginning of your Power!
In your position create a culture and climate that helps you thrive. I know many of you want to know how? Be very reflective in your views, stand for causes that are near and dear to your own heart, and always, always be true to yourself. Find out your why? Why are you here now in this position. Work hard to create your own niche. For example, gain the trust of people by simply being your authentic self. What makes you happy? Start a journal and focus on your essentials: talents, skills, passions, and values. Take your written words and put them into action. Start simply intentionally targeting just one thing at a time. From this point, began to carve out your niche or tribe. Invite people join your cause. Keep them engage. Allow everyone to have a voice as you lead the way. Seek out people who want to help. Do not waste energy on those who to not. This is your position of power. Why? Because you are able to walk in your our truth not the previous leaders path your own. Remember you are still your husband partner, the pastor. Thus, you should align your potential focus with his mission and vision. Working together as a team is only a win, win situation for all.
Finally, a position of power can only become powerful by seeking God for wisdom. Because you have started with God. He will lead the way guaranteeing your success. The pastor's wife has the opportunity to shape the destiny of many lives by committing to become God's disciple and humbly submit to His teachings. You will be in the position of power!
