Religion and impact on Sexuality In 21st Century

Marc is a journalist and event planner who has long been involved in the cultural world of Durham. Can also find me on other social media.

I have had the pleasure of dating a few woman who were very much involved with their Church.....And a few of them had kids from previous relationships, but not all of them..

But, no matter what that situation was, I often discovered many of them had a serious guilt trip over their sexuality. They enjoyed sex, but unless it was procreation or within the confines of marriage, they felt they were doing something wrong in the Church's eye...So this gave this a serious guilt complex...Sometimes, they would try and pass this complex on to me.

Ironically, I often found that many of the churches that they attended also had a double standard in the message. Teaching the girls to be chaste, but singing the "you better shop around" .which amounts to almost giving them permission to try different dishes to use that analogy, motto to so many of their male parishioners.....

And, of course, the fact that sex is prevalent in society, be it on TV shows, Movies, and definitely the Internet.....

Wondering what people's thoughts are on religion and it's impact on our views on sexuality......

I agree that God is always in control, but I also find it interesting how mankind often tries to interpret the laws to fit injustices...Remember there was those that use the Bible to justify Slavery, as well as injustices to Women and the Crusades was bout Religion being used to justify entire wars.....

And, yes, I do prayer and communicate regularly with God so I can get clarity in my own head and understanding.....

And, I agree we all have our opinions and we all are entitled to them....

Hi Marc, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He never changes and He never changes His mind about His laws. That would mean that He is imperfect, and we know that God is perfect. So the laws that he set at the beginning of time remain the same. It's people who have changed. When people want to do something without a guilty conscience, then they change the rules to suit themselves. Every generation changes it a little bit. I don't have them handy but in the Bible it does say that sex outside the marriage bed is not pleasing to God and anything not pleasing to God is a sin. I know a lot of people who would disagree with this but everyone has a right to their opinion. So, that's my opinion, not meant to shove anything down anyone's throat. I think you should just examine yourself and pray about it and see what your own conscience tells you to do. Hope that helps some.

      Blessings to you.
