Shagging and Knobbing

Updated on October 23, 2009

Just in case you did not know, in the UK, the slang term for having sex is Shag or Knob. Generally, used in the following manner, " I shagged that woman, totally awesome" or "I suppose you have been knobbing him".

How many times have we all read or heard someone say, " sex, it's overrated"? Over the years, it is a frequent comment that is revisited ad nauseum. What kind of person would say this?

My guess is that it's a person who is preoccupied with other more important things than biologic needs. Its lower on the totem pole in terms of their needs and after spending a certain amount of time in intimacy, they are simply bored, moving ahead in their thoughts onto other matters that need to be addressed. That amount of time might less than 15 min or one hour, but at some point, the intensity of the sex simply diminishes. Maybe those people are the ones that simply need to "get off" or does not need sex frequently and tend to view it as minor necessity. The needs of a couple change over time as real life issues develop from the "hot and heavy" sexual drives when dating to the once a week event many marriages end up having, maybe it finally ends up once a month. The thing is, the sex needs seems to become less important between a couple at time moves on and kids enter the picture. Some couples can engage in active sex for over an hour, others are lucky to spend 30 min in the act. People that say it is overrated may also consider sex - the foreplay- as a kinda work because the act itself passes quickly once ecstasy is passed. Maybe the ones that say this have yet to feel a sincere, deep, warm love- the kind we see in movies and theirs is far less than that. maybe they think they know what real love is but really don't so they keep looking and trying and it all gets rather redundant, which jades their perspective of sex etc.

Then, on the other of end is the sexoholic, which is a person with a deep need to feel that they are loved, so much so, they love swinging or just knobbing anyone they want. Sex then becomes a drug, no different than if it was cocaine. They just gotta have it.
