Silence Is Not Golden.

Updated on July 28, 2010

Why do we always seem to release

our bottled up emotions far too late.

keeping what we truly wanted to say

corked up inside, until in desparation

we cast them out over storms of doubt

and watch them float away

on an ocean of tears.

No man is an island unto himself,

it is a paradise undiscovered,

that must be shared.

So many are marooned in this world

on the rocks of their own choice,

pouring vodka over them and simply

drowning their sorrows,

when love is simply

a glance, a smile and

a few words away,.

Not on paper sealed

at the last  possible second,

but from hungry lips to hungry ears

waiting just about everywhere.

Silence is not golden

it is more of a steel muzzle

that steals away

any hopes for love.

Loneliness is the

colors of maroon-ed

and many shades of blues

until death paints it black

to simply ease the pain.

hard to know when to speak and when to stay silent, i am learning bitterly. Lovely to read your work, go easy on the vodka, save a sip for me

Great thoughts MFB .. I grew up with many bottled emotions. My boyfriend .. now hubby urged me to communicate whatever it was that was in my heart. I found I was safe to do so with him. There is freedom in honesty and when you learn to speak the truth in love .. ya just can't go wrong. No man is an island for sure .. an island is lonely and has nothing to offer unless it shares its beauty with another.

      Love is not golden,

      Loneliness is not blue.

      There are no colors,

      When there is no you.

      Did it rain?

      Sorry to sully

but sometimes the most simple answer is the best answer

Why do we always seem to release

our bottled up emotions far too late.

Again you have captured beauty so simply, yet so profoundly. The main thing that holds us back is fear. Fear of rejection and fear of loss. Thanks for the great write. Love the little kwepie picture.

      Namaste friend.

That picture is worth a thousand words, and the words,

'float away on an ocean of tears' is so beautiful.

Silence is a thought you wished you had spoken

Silence was the last chance you had

      before a vow was broken

So the next time you think of something

      you wish you had said

Yell it out loud, even if it,s " DROP DEAD "

Beautiful........... best to say what you have to say before you no longer have the opportunity to do so. How many broken hearts and empty souls would be healed and whole if they'd only taken the time to share their thoughts and feelings? Kaie
