Slow Dancing by Candlelight

Updated on February 9, 2013

Her arms around his

neck, bodies melding together,

warm breath on chests,

they slow dance. The candles

flicker, shadows dance, music

soft, pulsing, feet circling

feet, sighs, silken smiles,

they slow dance. “We

gotta—” “Shh.” She says,

“But in a few

months—” “Shh. Not tonight.”

It is enough to

slow dance, alone as one,

in a candlelit room,

one body circling itself

as the shadows dance.

Thank you. Sometimes the quietest moments in our lives speak loudest.
