My Holy Friend's Home and Store

This wonderful home literally sits on bedrock with sandy washes and fault lines on either side. It's an interesting but solid ride!

The Store

I met a friend

Some time ago.

A holy friend,

His dancing eyes,

Like the pockets of his mind,

FULL of magic.

His heart,

Like his home,

Not on sand,

But on bedrock,

Surrounded by abundance

Into which he digs deeply

And gives away

Without judgement.

A pack of cigarettes

To a man

For a smoke.

The time of day

And a few books

To a lonely stranger.

A peak

Into the meaning

Of my dreams.

His delightful presence

Quietly shouts,

"God is hardly dead."

For my holy friend

I hope all of you have special people in your lives. I am so lucky to have my Holy Friend, Andrew. Andrew runs The Paperback Exchange here in Yucaipa. If you are looking for a used or new book, contact Andrew. You can reach him at 909-553-4329. Ths store also carries a variety of new books written by local authors. You can even purchase my book, From The Frying Pan To The Jacuzzi there.

The Paperback Exchange also hosts THE WRITERS' GALLERY critique groups, which typically meet on Monday evenings. Attend a critique group and you will receive both critical and affirming feedback.

Andrew can also assist you in making sense of your dreams. He is REALLY GOOD at it. There is no hocus pocus or voices from the dead. He's just gifted and has some training in dream work..

Yes, indeed, and I like to think of myself as giving and non judgmental. I often give money to people who ask and I have NO desire to know what they're using it for. BUT when I am around Andrew, I realize I have a LONG ways to go, and that's all right, really. I'm glad I have someone out in front of me, so to speak, setting the pace!! Keeps me humble and I am fining more and more I really enjoy being humble. It's a lot easier and less stressful than being the opposite and I'm not sure what the opposite is, exactly, it's more than just being proudful, maybe thinking that I am omnipotent or something like that!!

Thanks for reading and commenting and stirring up some more stuff for me!

An awesome ode to your friend! One who's so giving he doesn't superimpose his morals on others, but would freely give "A pack of cigarettes / To a man / Dying / For a smoke." Apt term, "holy friend": there's a strong undercurrent of holiness in selfless giving.
