The best medicine: LAUGHTER

Updated on June 29, 2011

Laughter is the best medicine – and a unique way to hide thy true feelings???

It is a big question in his life right now. People consider him a clown wherever he goes. He is a funny guy. In fact he looks young for his age due to the fact that he always finds reason to smile despite the burdensome circumstances that he is facing. He is a clown. He makes people laugh all the time. If his friends have problems, he is always there. He does not complain. He is a good friend. Indeed, he is a very optimistic person that no one even considers that thrice in his life; he wished that he is dead and has attempted to commit suicide.

But why??? People thought he is a very optimistic person. But why on a sudden, he wants to be dead? It is a simple truth. He is always there for his friends. But every time he has problems, he has no one to talk to. He keeps it by himself. Every time he wants to cry, he prevents himself from crying. He is a shock absorber but no one absorbs his problem. But is there really a need for a shock absorber? Sometimes he asks himself, if he has a friend. No one even bother to ask him – if there are things that bother him.

Well, he is a good actor. He is able to convince people that he has a good life.  That his life is worry-free.

And yes – life is a masquerade for him. Hiding his true feelings through laughter, laughter and more laughter. I wonder if he has a life. Yes, for the people around him. But for himself – life? It is full of hatred and grief.

wow, im terribly sorry to hear that he's going through all that. it kind of reminds me of how I used to be for a while until I met my friend, Beth on hubpages. Before, I used to always repress how I really felt about things inside. However, as she taught me, it's never good to repress and hide your emotions like that. therefore, i can totally relate to what your friend is going through. i'm sorry to hear that's been happening to him, and i hope he'll learn to open up soon about his feelings. As it never any good keeping them bottled up like that. I know as i used to be the same way.

however, if he did succeed in killing himself, then I'm truly sorry for your loss.

i agree, laughter can be a good thing, but so can even "bad" feelings...we have to let them move through us and not deny them, because they want to be heard. of course, we shouldn't let bad feelings take the reins and drive. cool hub.

I am not sure who the clown is in your hub, but I hope he can find a way to give to himself what he gives to others. I know, it is easier said than done. As a therapist, I listen every day to stories and some are horrendous and some are just what we all face every day. I do bring humor and lot of it to my work as a therapist, AND most importantly, I meet every Wednesday morning with my Buddy Bruce. You can check out the hub on My Buddy Bruce. Bruce and I make sure that we are each there for each other so that neither one of us has to become overwhelmed with the burdens of the world or our own burdens, which unbeknownst to so many, are sometimes overwhelming. I will send your friend some humorous energy and envision him finding another clown to share with each week like Bruce and I do. There's a good chance Bruce and I would both be dead, either in reality or metaphorically, if not for our weekly gettogether. And besides crying on each others shoulders, we also laugh our butts off!! A new kind of diet!

All of that said, GREAT HUB. TOUCHING and SAD.
