The Single Person's Guide to Enjoying Life

Updated on December 2, 2009

When you are single, you may feel as though every activity in the world is geared towards couples. Television programs are often geared towards couples and you may feel a little strange going out on your own to different events. The truth of the matter is that if you are single, you don't need to put all your energy into becoming a couple!

Being on your own has plenty of benefits and you will find that there are definitely a lot of great things out there that you can explore and take on your own.

First, stop saying that there are things that you can only do as a couple. For instance, some people feel like going out to eat or going to the movies or the theatre are activities that are reserved for couples. On the other hand, there is nothing that says that you cannot enjoy them on your own.

Get dressed up and go enjoy yourself. You are there to enjoy a meal or to take in a fun movie; it doesn't have to be something that is meant to bring you closer to another person.

Remember that group activities can be a lot of fun as well. If there is a great movie that you want to see, why not drag in all of your friends? When was the last time that you went to see the movies in a large group?

Enjoying a movie like that and going out to a restaurant where you can talk about it is a great way to get to know more people and to make sure that you are going to be able to have a great time. It can be quite liberating to enjoy being in a group of people without needing to worry about being one-half of a couple.

Also consider how much fun it is going to be doing some travelling on your own. You can light out for different cities and even countries on your own or you can join a tour group. Take some time and make sure that you consider what your options are going to be when it comes to seeing the world; they call it tied down for a reason!

When you are going to be single, remember that this is time that you can spend exclusively on you. You do not need to worry about making time for someone else or of having a responsibility to another person.

Take some time to learn more about what you can do for yourself as a single person. Don't believe all the things out there that tell you that you need to be in a couple to feel complete; you are already a complete human being and that is definitely something to be cherished and celebrated!

The sky's the limit. It is up to you to decide to maximise your time or wallow in self pity. I choose to enjoy my life and achieve goals rather than wait on someone to make the difference in my life.

It was at the end day what caught my husband's attention. He loved my zest for life.

Go for it. Aim for the stars and see how much fun you can have going about it!!!

Thanks. Very encouraging and inspiring. When single, one has all the time in the world. Well, sort of... lol.

      Loved the article. :)
