This means that the couple who’s about to tie the knot is gearing towards a small wedding.
A wedding is a ceremony, in which two people are united in marriage, two hearts coming together as one in the sight of God. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes.
An intimate wedding is a social event, a celebration in which we celebrate the new life of a couple with a few close friends and family members.
The trend today is more and more couples are leaning towards small intimate weddings because of budgeting restriction and some just do not want to be bothered with the hoopla. A small intimate wedding whatever the settings offer you the opportunity to experience a more memorable, relaxed, comfortable, cozy and romantic wedding; not to say you can’t achieve this with a larger wedding , it’s just will be more difficult because time will be limited as to the amount of time you will be able to spend with your guest.
I have often heard comments from brides that had large weddings saying the one thing they regret the most is not being able to spend more time with their guess, or the day was a blur to them due to scheduling issues. If time is a commodity to you then a small wedding is the way to go.
When the emphasis is on intimate, the less people the better. To achieve the level of intimacy in your wedding it’s advisable to have a guess list of 50 and under, anything more than that you will be moving away from intimacy.
Benefits of a small intimate wedding
Having a beautiful, unique, romantic, and elegant wedding in a small setting allows you the freedom to carry out your wedding theme more elaborately on a grander scale. You will be able to emphasize certain aspect of the wedding that you might not be able to do otherwise with a larger wedding because of budget restriction, with a smaller wedding and you will be able to save on your budget.
You can customize your wedding to your own tastes because you will have more freedom to be creative and make your wedding a unique experience which will be a reflection of the two of you, this is your moment to really shine bright and not settle for the status quo. Having a smaller guest list allow you the time to interact and spend quality time with your guests, in which you can do some serious mixing and mingling. A smaller setting is a more manageable, cozy and relaxed atmosphere where you are able to participate fully in every area of your wedding without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
What ever size your wedding is, the key to a successful wedding day is in the planning and organization.
First order of business is to decide on a budget, the number of guess, and a theme, you will need this information in order to better plan your wedding.
A wedding can get very expensive and if you are not careful you can easily be a victim of money, this is why it’s wise to set a budget for this occation.Your budget should be very realistic of your circumstance and not “trying to keep up with the Jones”, whatever your budget is you should stick to it, so you do not run into financial difficulties and stress after the wedding.
I suggest that you prepare a wedding budget worksheet; this will help you plan out what you’ll need to pay for and how much you should plan to spend on each item.
This list should contain your closest family members and friend that you want to share your intimate moment with, remember to try to limit your list to a maximum of 50 guess.
A theme should reflect your personalities and lifestyles, so decide on a theme that fits both your vision as to what that intimate affair should look like, and make it an event to be remembered and treasured. A theme makes it easier to coordinate your wedding decorations, invitations, favors, flowers, menu, and finding the right location for your ceremony and reception.
If your theme is being represented by certain colors then you must be consistent in your theme, whatever colors you are working with you must decide on the shade of that color and stick to it.
It’s recommended that you limit your colors choices to a maximum of 3 colors and be sure they compliment each other, your theme will pull the whole event together and everything will coordinate in style.

The setting and location of your wedding is vitally important because it adds to the mood of the wedding, it can increase your sense of intimacy or detract from it, so choose wisely. You can be traditional or laid back and fun, it is your choice and it should reflect who you both are.
There are a plethora of places you can choose from to hold your wedding and reception, some examples of a small wedding venue might be City Hall, an outdoor garden setting, a beach or waterfront area, a home wedding, a restaurant, community hall, a church, bed and breakfast inn, or an elegant hotel that provides small cozy banquet rooms.

Choose your venue by compiling a list of places you both are interested in, and narrow down the list until you arrive at the place that makes you both happy. Check out the reputation of venue thoroughly, by requesting references and seeing samples of past weddings, if your first impression of the place and staff is less than impressive then I would suggest that you move on until you find a place that dazzle you.
Once you have chosen your venue then you can get into the details of bringing your vision to life, I think this is the fun part; but that’s only my opinion.
Even with the smallest of budget you can have a spectacular celebrity- style wedding as seen in magazines or on TV, your wedding can look like a million buck, it’s all in the details.
Planning a wedding can be a very daunting and stressful process, so with this in mind you can opt to have extra help by hiring a wedding planner, or you can be your own wedding planner; that is your personal choice.
If you choose to have a wedding planner, make sure it is one whose work fits with your style. This person should have sufficient experience and credentials as a wedding planner, and should be able to show you pictures of their work. Good food and drinks will make your event, so whether you are having it catered or cook at home make sure that the chef’s are good cooks, and that they can provide you with a sumptuous wedding meal.
Have a meal testing dinner to sample the dishes and drinks you have selected to be served the day of your wedding, and give your approval on the menu; you want no surprises on your special day.
The entertainment should reflect your personalities, so whatever your choice music - a band, DJ, or live entertainment, you should preview all songs and build a playlist for your occasion, including a song for your first dance. On a personal note: I myself will be having a small intimate wedding and splurging on the honeymoon.
