Biggest Turn Offs for Men

Updated on November 3, 2015

It is tricky to list things that are: turn offs for men, because that, which is a turn off for one guy, may be a turn on for another. Therefor I have put together a list of common turn offs, that most men can’t stand.

Some of these can really kill a relationship, especially during the first few dates. Maybe it has happened to you? He just doesn’t call back or even worse disappears during the date. Sometimes just changing your behavior a little can stop this problem in it’s tracks.

Too much makeup
This is a really tragic turn off, easily fixed and very common. I frequently see good looking girls that have just gone totally overboard, with the makeup.

Now I have nothing against a little eye shadow and lipstick, but makeup is meant to enhance and ad color to that which is already there. Not to help you put on a completely different face.

Personal hygiene

Hairy Women
We are a hairy species and some guys like that in a girl. In general however I would have to say: shave, wax and pluck to get it under control. Especially before a date.

Humans are the only mammals that sweat, as much as we do. That makes us one of the smelliest species on the planet. You need to bathe regularly to counteract that.

Your body odor can be affected by that which you eat. So go easy on the chilly, garlic and peppers, a week before a date.

Ever kiss someone with really bad breath, bet you didn’t kiss him again. Brush your teeth and floss regularly also go to the dentist every 6 months. Also right before you kiss someone try some mint chewing gum or bite into an apple. This will make your kiss taste great.

Out of shape
Some men like really fat girls, a few guys even like really skinny girls. But most guys like women that are in between those extremes.

To stay in shape, try to get 30 minutes of exercise, every day. Don’t eat highly processed food that is rich in fat and/or sugar. Eat some fruit and vegetables.

What you eat on your dates
Don’t count calories on your dates. Guys don’t like girls who sit there and watch them eat. No need to go overboard, just order a good size meal.

This is one of my pet peeves. I hate it when I order a burger with fries and the girl that I am with orders a burger with no fries. Then I ask “Are you sure that’s going to be enough for you?” Then she says: “Yes, I am trying to watch my figure”. After which she proceeds to eat all my fries. If you want it, order it.

Getting drunk
Guys like a girl that can have a couple of glasses of wine with them. It makes for a relaxed fun date. Girls that get drunk out of their minds are a complete turn off for me. So you might want to watch that on your dates.

Sexual turn offs for men

Cold fish in bed
Sex is in fact best when two people are involved. So just lying there isn’t going to cut it. Men prefer passionate women, who want to try new things, in the sack.

Girls that talk during sex
A little dirty talk before sex is great. But during sex guys need to focus on the task at hand. Girls that think this is a great time to talk about their day is a big turn off for men.

I hope you found this article to be fun and informative.

Great advice! I think all women need to know what scares a guy off. Then again, I think it really depends on the person too. I have seen girls that always have their makeup caked on and guys are falling at their feet. Ah, that is why men are from Mars and woman are from Venus. I guess we truly will never understand the opposite sex.

      Great Hub!

I think you writing these things is great, but these same tactics can go both ways for guys as well, so if you're going to be critical on the ladies do the same for yourselves and take your own advice.

Oh! I also wanted to praise you for the comments in your profile. It's nice to find someone with similar attitudes. I like comments on my hubs but you're not fooling me when you put your links in there. (I still haven't figured out the whole money angle here I do it mostly because I enjoy it.) I get paid to write elsewhere. Anyway, good for you!

I am confused here, j. Are you Male of Female? I'm curious from which perspective this hub originates. I agree with some of this but not for the same reasons so i am curious if it is because we are different genders or just different people.

Gem, drink something with a lower percentage of alcohol in it or alternate between alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Great comments. But im afraid some women, like me, cant take as much alcohol as the guy im on the date with. No matter how hard i try!

I know its sad but what can i do?!

Who will write the hub on what turns women off?

I can come up with quite a few things, but here and now.
