Wedding Cake stands make it easy to have a beautiful wedding cake display at your reception. They give the look of a tiered cake without the added difficulties associated with setting up the tiers - and hoping that they stay put until it's time to cut the cake.

Using a Cake Stand

You simply place each decorated tier on a separate plate. Depending on the style of the tier (and they come in many styles) your cake will take on an elegant look as the stand holds the different layers securely at various levels. No dowels to poke in and no special techniques to learn - almost anyone that can put together a cake mix can create a beautiful wedding cake.

Whether you want a Victorian garden wedding or a sleek, contemporary reception there is a wedding cake stand that will create the look that you want at a price you can afford. The stands are a great way to cut wedding costs and have a frugal wedding without cutting elegance and beauty.

Floating Tier Stands

Floating tier stands make your wedding cake magically appear to float in the air. The come in many different shapes such as:

  • Hearts
  • Squares
  • Rounds

The plates are suspended from a metal back support which is not noticeable once the cake is assembled. Many brides choose to decorate this back support with vines, roses, pearls, or ribbon. It's a good idea if your cake table is in the center of the room rather than against a wall.

To assemble the floating tier cake you take each finished cake layer and place it on one of the special plates. Once the cakes are on the plates you attach the plate tier to the back support. Very quick, very easy, very beautiful.

Victorian Garden Cake Stand

For a beautiful Victorian themed wedding this Victorian Garden wedding cake stand will help to create the romance of a bygone era.

The original cake stand accepts three tiers but you can use the extra satellite stands to enlarge the cake to serve more people. The satellite plates stand on four scrolls and are fourteen inches to accept many different cake sizes or even cup cakes.

The stand is plastic with an easy to assemble twist and click feature. Both the stand and the satellites are available in clear or white plastic.

Wedding Cake Trends

Wedding Cake Fountain stands

Wedding Cake Fountain stands are cake stands that are high on the bottom so that a small working fountain can be placed in the bottom of the stand. This is a beautiful presentation and makes the cake look tall and elegant.

Wilton has a great step by step tutorial on how to add a fountain to your wedding cake.

For a very romantic evening wedding votive candles can be carefully placed aound the bottom of the tiers and fountain.

Wedding Cupcake Stands

A new trend is for wedding cupcakes. These cupcakes are generally displayed beautifully on a tiered stand. Any of the wedding cake stands will work for this or you can use a cupcake stand.

Cupcakes can be made in a number of ways. They an be very intricate and elegant or have a cute motif on them. You can choose to make them all one kind or vary the flavors as much as you wish.

Cupcake papers have become a fashion statement, for weddings as well as for other parties.  From floral motifs to intricately designed laser cut papers, cupcakes can create a special ambiance at your reception.

Wedding cake stands have taken cakes to a new level, literally.

With so many innovative designs and possible uses they are an extremely versatile and helpful item to have.

  • Use them for appertifs as well as cake.
  • Intersperse flowers on some of the levels
  • Use extra dishes to make sure that you have enough cake for all your guests

Your wedding is your special day. Cakes stands just make it a little easier and more affordable.
