The Funny and Not So Funny

What are they? What are most awkward or embarrassing moments in your life?

There are the funny ones, the embarrassing ones, the sad ones. Of course, some funny ones are also embarrassing, like, a guy walking around the office not knowing his zipper is down, or a woman wearing clothing that is so sheer, anyone has x-ray eyes. Of course, one could say, buying clothing like that is intentional. Other not so funny moments occur when you lock yourself out of your car with the keys inside, or, unable to perform in sexual encounters. The worse ones can be from family estrangements. You know, a family issue is so toxic that it poisons the relationships to the point parties are not speaking or visiting one another. Then, after years of this passive aggression, the same members stumble face to face at a store, at the club, on street. Some try to pretend that they do not known one another, others keep their distance, others debate whether to say anything fearing some bad response. All very awkward. Once the moment passes, both feel a bit sad, but neither knows how to make it better.

Other awkward moments include being totally unprepared for work or school and then being called upon to explain or talk about it. Some try to BS their way through stumbling like walking on ice, others simply state they are unprepared and so what! Common awkward moments are usually in job interviews, where the applicant has "pumped up their resume" to get an interview and then when they do, they are asked for details about the "white lie" they claimed on the resume. Interviewers can see this instantly. They get a kick out of it, you panic. The Voice and American idol TV shows often provide "awkward" moments because some cannot sing very well, or are too nervous to sustain a note. For them, nothing is sadder or more embarrassing. For the audience, it can be funny or sad.

Everyone has awkward moments. The only way to handle them is to handle the situation and quickly move on.

Classic mumbo-jumbo
