When Your Best Friend Has Depression and Anxiety

Updated on January 27, 2014

A good friend is there for you through thick and thin. To be a good friend in return one must do the same. What happens when you have a friend who had depression and anxiety?

Having a friend who has depression and anxiety can be quite a challenge. When life gets too complicated they go in a hole and won't contact you. They don't know how to make plans and often cancel. They don't go with the flow. They always have to be home at a certain time instead of living life.

Having a friend like that will make you feel not important. They won't tell you how they feel so you are always wondering when will they get out of their mood and contact you again? You have so much fun when you are together but when they get like this you feel, hurt, angry and frustrated.

As much as you enjoy this friend, do not make this person your only friend. They will disappoint you over and over again. The only time they will stay in your life is when they are okay.

You deserve a friend who will be there for you all the time and who will communicate when they are going through a hard time. Friendship isn't like a job. There is no part time friendship. There is full time friendship and eternal friendship. As much as you are understanding it coudl effect you. Be there for this friend and be friends but don't put all your effort into someone who will only disappoint you.
