Does romantic love touch you so?

See results

When I said that “I love you.” I meant it.

But you appear to belong to another,

And there is so little time.

Thus I re-enforce these magical words: “I love you,”

Again and again … a zillion times!!

In spite of seemingly impossible odds,

I still need that nameless depth,

We never shared together.

Hearing you in your predicament;

Knowing that hearts will be broken,

Why settle for the freshness of the well,

When the lake is full of charm?

Or should you travel through the marshes,

When yon valley is full of light?

Beloved, walk with me on a one-way journey,

Seek the warmth and radiance of the Sun,

While making an assertive bid for freedom.

And with your heart in fleeted flight,

Let us glide forward on Wings of Delight.

Turn not behind, my Sweet one,

As for this Lots wife suffered much sorrow.

The way forward already blossoms,

And beckons us to the great unknown.

There we will radiate the joy and bliss of harmony,

Merge with Venus and Aphrodite,

In the court of blissful union.

It comes from mystical poetry and the lives of the saints both East and West. They speak of mystical union; divine marriage, etc. There can also be a play on the words so as to convey the meaning of human love. People treat Rumi's poems like that and yet he was a very spiritual man. We get what we see, really.

Manatita, you literally take my breath away. "That nameless depth we never shared together" is so elusive; still you hope for 'the merge . . . as one." Your love poems are exceptional!
