Words are hurtful

Updated on April 9, 2012

You have heard the saying when you were younger "Sticks and stones could break my bones, but words could never hurt me." That isn't true. Words can hurt and it could have a deep impact as time goes on.

When someone says something hurtful we think it's true. That's why we have to be careful who we surround ourselves with. If someone makes us feel bad about ourself we shouldn't associate with them.

The more negative words you hear the more you will believe it is true. Don't listen to those lies and don't waste time with people who bring you down. Instead focus on yourself and be with people who raise you up.

Words can effect your self-esteem. So if you have people in your life who are making you feel less than speak to them. Tell them how you feel and if they don't chance, split from them. There are people out there who will raise us up. Sometimes it is better to be alone than be with people who bring us down.
