We as social creatures, need to harmonize with those with similar interests. If it is a mixed group of people you are looking for, try to look in the community papers or flyers for activities in the areas of interest you have. Are you a bookworm? Go to a poetry slam or an open microphone night that they may schedule at local bookstores or college campus student unions. Are you an art buff? Try a museum that has seminars or workshops in regard to the type of art you enjoy. Are you into fitness? Join a health club or the local YMCA. Are you a food critic or cook? Then go to a food tasting fair or sign up for cooking classes in the satellite community college campus of your town. I hope I gave you some good suggestions. I really think it is good to stimulate your intellect which will enhance any relationship that may spawn from something that really interests you..
Being confident and believing in yourself is another way to project yourself when meeting new people. Let your best qualities shine through and don't worry about what the other one will think when they meet you.
