When my sons were born. That over whelming feeling of unconditional love is the most wonderful thing ever.

This has to be one of the most interesting questions I have come across.
As a mother I must agree that the feeling is unexplainable. When I gave birth to my first child I knew I loved him and would love him no matter what ever happened. That was the moment that true love existed for me.

Of course the children.. beyond that.  I think when I realized that being in love with someone, even though they did not feel it back. I did not feel any bitterness towards that person. Disappointment yes. The love itself made me happier  (You have to make yourself happy first) and I just enjoyed the feeling even if I knew it was not going to be returned.. Knowing in the long run that he was not the right guy for me, meant I loved myself enough to walk away from something that even if he did come around would not have been good for me.

Sorry for rambling., Hard to explain what I mean.

I always have. I grew up with two loving parents who were high school sweet hearts and still act like they did almost 30 years ago.

The feelings expressed by lockgirl and lisa4 are awesome and I am envious. (there will be more awesome answers to this, however at the intiial time of writing these were the only two responses when I responded) I could be a little defensive with my answer and say "not fair to us guys" - smile. However, love is contagious (in my view) and to just get a glance of their love for their newborns is overwhelming. That doesn't answer your question, yet I hope it tells that (in my view) there is no meaning to love only love.

Sadly , at my first broken heart at sixteen, but we learn of the meaning each and every day! Every time our partner smiles  or cries.  Each time  I take the time to listen to anyone!  A million examples.

If you mean romantic love, I am still understanding it. I think I know how it might work sometimes but then it surprises you with new things that you don't know how to handle yet. But all this discovery came along with a beautiful relationship. I know I'm still really young, but I'm realistic and sensible; and what I have experienced is pretty much really close to, if not, love. I have learned to be the best person I can be, I have changed for the better and I am growing as a person in a way that I never did before. Love is something magical and unexplainable, but sometimes's it's pretty logical. Love a lot of times means happiness, and I am the happiest person alive.

I think you find that answer when you've found someone to love.

Married to the same man      30 years,
    adore my children
    spoil my grandchildren
look for guidance in the upbringing lessons of my departed
    Grandparents.................

I know NOTHING yet of "love".

Of all the inconviences, interruptions, intrusions of life...........though, they be many................I have no occassion to believe that I have sacrificed more than any other mother, wife, lover or child.

There was  an occassion that I said,..............I lost everything, but life itself.   Some, lost this.

I know, little, of " love".   What I do know is of its goodness, and not of its cost.

I started to have crushed that imagined to be love when in primary school. Then when I was in secondary school, I realised the difference between love and crush.

From there onwards, I chosen my girlfriend wisely to see if she is the one for me.

It took me 10 years to find someone I love. But it is worth the search as we are truly in love till now.

I garee with most of these answers, but being married for 13 years, having your own kids gives a new meaning to love.

I believe I love my wife more, now that we have two boys.

Love is more about giving than receiving: something you are taught very much when you have kids.

I know that love is hard to understand and explain. It's just there. Love can be easily manifested, but hard to explain. In my 22 years of existence, I'm searching for love, for the true meaning of it.

I look it to my family, siblings, friends and relatives. Yet, there is still something lucking from my deep search to the true meaning of love.

Then here come the time when I stumble and fall. My friends whom I thought should me the true meaning of love turn their back on me. Then and there I realize that I was wrong in my own understanding of love. It was only shallow.

When there's no one I can turn, I looked above. I close my eyes. I see a figure, wounded and laugh by people. He was hanging on the cross. I was surprise when I heard His soft whisper in my ears saying, I will do this for you and even for them pointing to the people who continued laughing.

Tears fell down my eyes. Then and there I understand the true meaning of love through JESUS!
