I think it has to do with men thinking rationally and not wanting to listen to their feelings.  They think it's not practical or less than manly.  I think we should all listen to our intuition since it is a part of our human nature!  Thanks for the question.

Women by definition and by nature are intuitive.  As the nuturer of the family unit we have to be more intuned to the feelings and subtle hintings of the condition of our partner and our children.  To catch the early warnings of a cold or an earache.  To anticipate their needs sometimes even before they are aware of what they require.  Males were the providers and often not as connected to the home and to the children.  I do not believe this part of our nature and our ability to rely on it is irrational at all.  I think that because we often have different roles in the home and family from our male counterparts we have learned to trust our instincts because for the most part they don't fail us.  My ex-husband used to ask why God always spoke to me about our direction and that of our family and why I was always aware of things with the children and other family members.  He was told it was simply because I listened.

I actually read something once about intuition and the brain structure. In general terms I believe it said that there is actually a physically bigger connection between the two halves of a woman's brain as compared to men. So there was a stronger link between the logical and reasoning functions. I think this is why women may be able to tie nonverbal clues to verbal ones and get a better sense of what is going on than men. I think many times we put more pieces of the puzzle together, so to speak. This is what I read anyway a long time ago. Who knows for sure?

Well, I believe men do listen to their own intuition as well as making rational decisions.

It is like our six sense telling us what we need to do before our brains start to process whether or not that is the right thing.

I think it is still best to analyze before making any conclusion or taking action as some intuition can be wrong.

I agree that the maternal instinct helps that powerful intuition, though I've met plenty of sensitive men.

We listen to our gut where as men just act and think about things later. But at the same time, sometimes we over analysis things too.
