We live in a time where many people don't want to assume responsibility for what happens in their life. Using good commonsense means taking responsibilty for decisions we make whether it's selecting the wrong mate or being tricked/conned we want to point our finger soley at the other person.
Sure no one deserves to be taken advantage of but is it "smart" to walk down an alley counting your money, leaving your keys in the ignition of your car over night, sleeping with your front door wide open, being a young coed drinking and peforming a strip tease on a bar in a frat house, leaving a purse or wallet on top of the roof of a car.....etc?
Today if you (barely mention) the person could have possibly "reduced" their odds of being taken advantage of by using some basic "commonsense" you are accused of "blaming the victim".
No one gives another person “permission” to abuse him or her. It’s not so much about Right or Wrong as it is being Safe or Careless. Looking out for #1 is our responsibility. No one is in a position to look after your interest better than you!
“Knowledge is being aware that fire can burn; wisdom is remembering the blister”
Awhile back I wrote a hub titled "Acknowledging An Obligation To Be "Aware" Is Not "Blaming The Victim"!"
