A good question, it made me think, but because I cannot immediately recall any one particular piece of advice that stands out from any other, I was not going to leave an answer. However, it did make me think of a quote by the American Cartoonist, Scott Adams, “You don't have to be a "person of influence" to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me.”
I believe we gain the best lessons in life by example, rather than by spoken advice. We follow the example of how those we look up to live their life, how they interact with their family and friends, by their work ethics, and by their principles of morality and decency, and they are not even aware that they are influencing us.
