Why do some people leave getting married until one of them is terminally ill?

I see many magazine headlines of stories where couples who have been together years marry at the last minute. Why do you think that is?

I'm sure it can be a positive thing at a difficult time. Never thought about financial motivation. Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for the response. That's really what has me curious, though. Many have chosen not to marry previously. I guess their views change when circumstances change.

Ooh, that's harsh! It's also a reason people should make wills, things don't automatically go to a spouse if a will states differently. Thanks for replying.

It is a difficult question, msorensson, which I find hard to understand, so thank you for joining in here. I think some people consider the financial cost of a wedding and put it off, then realise it does matter to them.
