   Is age really just a number?
   
   Hugh Hefner age (86) founder of Playboy Magazine, married Crystal Harris, age (26), last night on New Year's Eve in an intimate ceremony at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. Does he love her? Does she love him? Is age really just a number? Ultimately all that matters is if (they) are happy. Do you think a 26 year old woman could fall in love with an (average) 86 year old man? Or is this a case of "Money changes everything?"

   Age is just a number.   A young person can be mature beyond his/her years while an older person can be quite immature in his/her outlook.     To add to this, there are older person who have an abundant and neverending curiosity about life and stay forever youthful.   Conversely, there are young fogies who are extremely rigid and set in their ways, judging their environment by narrow parameters and nothing else.

      Valid points! I think the public/media is more "curious" than they are interested in "judging" though. If anything they enjoy comparing their lives to the "options" afforded to the rich and famous. Life is a personal journey!

      I know some young children and teens who exhibit more mature behavior than some  supposed grown ups.  Don't you agree?

      gmwilliams, I think for the most part with age comes wisdom. The vast majority of older people conduct themselves more maturely than teens. At least you don't see a lot of elders walking around with their pants hanging off their backside! :-)

      Yes, that is true for the most part.  However, there are some supposedly adults who act quite immature and childish whereas there are some children who are wise beyond their young years.  Alll of us have encountered that.

   I say to each his own. Age can be just a number. I know people who were years apart and loved each other. Do I think this is love? I am not so sure. I am not them so I cannot answer or judge, but I would guess that fame and money may have something to do with it. They may even be happy but I think if Hugh was not who he is this woman probably would not have married him. And most likely they would have not even known each other.

   Would this 26 year old woman be interested in Hugh Hefner if he was an 86 year old Social Security retiree and no wealth at all?  I think we both know the answer.

   I am 47 married to a now 65 yr old , We married for love and are very happy together . He acts younger than my first husband who is about 51 now . We have the same interests in music,travel sport etc and are traveling Australia.
   Very soon we are leaving for an adventure of a lifetime .
   Age is a number - Enjoy life and don't let a number hold you back !

   Is age really just a number? Well, the answer is yes and no. In Hugh's case, he may feel like a horny 18 year old, but his body is old and cannot sustain his life much longer.
   
   So, is Hugh as old as he thinks he is or is he as old as he really is? I guess, at the end of the day it really doesn't matter how old he thinks he is, because even though age is relative, he is living on borrowed time...meaning his actual age is what really matters here. He can convince himself that he is much younger, but the Grim Reaper is hard to fool.
   
   To answer the question whether or not a young woman could love a man 60 years her senior...sure she could, but she will only sleep with him and marry him if he is loaded, is nearing death and leaves her everything in his will.

      CJ, You make a valid point with regard to him being on borrowed time. According to the census reports the average white male in the U.S. lives to be 77. Hugh is already 86! I wonder how many 26 year old "studs" would marry a 86 year old rich woman?

      Seriously though I believe the bulk of men place a higher value on a woman's beauty than what she has in the bank. Not many 86 year old women have 26 year old guys dying to take them out or marry them. :-)

   Nice question - I would say age doesn't matter in general.  I think Hugh is just looking for companionship.  What his wife is looking for who knows- may be love, money, easy life -whatever that is.  I hope she married him because she really wants to be with him and not for the dollar signs.  But, I also think Hugh goes into these types of relationships with the idea that young girls may be marrying him for his money.  Whatever the reason I hope they enjoy each other - however you do that. Does age matter?  No!  But, you have to have things in common in order to make the relationship work.  Money is temporary.  When you're rich it's easier to buy things and do what you want.  But, it doesn't buy happiness and can't replace love.

      ReeneDC1979, I believe you are correct that most rich/successful men enter into relationships with (young women) knowing they are with them because of their wealth. It's a "trade-off". I think the majority of adults have things in common. :-)

    I think that it is not possible. They might not be having love for each other and in this case money is everything. Might be they have some agreement for marriage in which they will get money or else which is profitable to them!

    Your common sense should tell you that no, age is not just a number. You know what else is a number? Money. Not to say that age sometimes can't be a factor, but for most of us it is, due to natural forces of sexual attraction and genetic health.

    It depends, Most people have different morals and boundaries.
    
    For example most people would find a a 16 year old and a 30 year old relationship to be weird while at the same time a 30 year old and a 44 year old people wouldn't even bat an eye lid.
    
    It is entirely subjective, but if everyone is happy and its legal whats the harm?
