Friendship...
What does friendship mean to you? Do you have any best friend..
I just wrote my answer to this question in my hub "The Pleasure and Joy of an Old Friendship." It is a support system that makes life happier and easier.
Friendship to me means standing by me when I fall...helping me get up and stand on my own to feet. It means having the courage and forthrightness to give and receive knowledge and wisdom when the situation requires it. It means encouraging me to reach my goals and dreams and not always telling me that I can't achieve things and goals. It means treating me with the same compassion, concern and respect that I give to you. Friendship to me requires honesty, forthrightness, respect, compassion, concern, trust and communication. To me if these things are not present....then there is more of an acquaintance and not a friendship. My best friend is Jesus!
First, friendship is a relationship between two people either by blood affinity or otherwise. Friendship relationship between two people is acceptance of each other despite all individual differences. The most successful friendship relationship is one where two people are honest with each other and spontaneous in all of their dealings with each other. A successful friendship is one that is open to the knowledge of every one around as opposed to secretive type of friendship that is immoral and adhering to anti social secrecy.
I notice that there is a so-called friendship that the internet people or netizens are practicing and they cal this BFF. This is not friendship, this plain fantasy. True friendship is based on the reality of living and life; this is the only friendship that lasts.
My best friend and I had been best friends for almost two decades now. I have a hub on this called "Friendship Over the Years". Both of us had been there in every turn and twist in our lives. I was not yet a grandma when our friendship began; now my eldest granddaughter is going to celebrate her debut (18the birthday) in May.
Friendship is reality as opposed to sick fantasy.
A common thread between two people who need each other to lean on is friendship. Love has little to do with friendship, but friends certainly need each other's love to carry them over good times and bad times. Miles and time apart will never tarnish a true friendship.
Friendship is relationship to be natural with almost same age people. But it may not also be always same age. One can be friendly also with differed age group and yet be happy. Its kind of mutual comfort one feels to be in company and be happy. One can be very natural with friends as one can be at ease. Friendship means a lot to me. For me its a selfless relation without much expectation and formality and where I can just be as I am and I know well that my friends will not just mind anything. The understanding, the bonding, the space is all that matters so much in friendship which I do share. Friends are always there in the worst time when none is around one to be be found. So friendship in true meaning can be a relationship above all.
I do have best friends......they are twin. I have even written hubs about the time we shared together also.
I have a best friend and I have a couple that are more family and close friends. My best friend is my best friend because of many reasons. She is open and bluntly honest with me and doesn't sugar coat or hide her feelings from me. This makes it so she is never just sitting on all that is bugging her and throwing it at me and breaking off friendship because of those things I didn't even notice. Every time she was there for me she did so without expecting anything in return, made me want to do for her double than what she did for me. She goes and does things for my family and I that you wouldn'te ven expect someone to do like keep my newborn infant in germany with her because he didn't have a passoport yet and my ex was fighting me for custody and hiding my kid and I had to fly last minute to get my son. Or the time she loaned me money for us to eat because my spouse decided to go to Iraq and leave me nothing. She has accepted me for who I am and learned to understand the things about me others don't like and why I am like that and she doesn't expect me to change. She loves my kids as her own and is my son's godmother since birth. She is not fake, or ignorant, has an open mind, isn't judgemental, and is blunt like I am with honesty and you don't find that. But over all she unconditionally love and supports me and that is the rarest trait out there
