It is said that people who are really wise, 'gurus,' in the true meaning of that now so maligned word, advise us as follows. Savour and honour your friends. Love everyone. But ignore the remarks of those who would bring to you feelings of anger or resentment or hatred. Give such people a wide berth. Always respecting of course, the truism that "What you think of me is really none of my business."
As adults, we should choose our influences. Most of us don't, of course. But then most of us are not wise like those who have spent their lives in self-understanding and in becoming the best human beings they can be.
