It would depend on two things:
1. Where I am in my relationship status
2. Who initiated the breakup
It's rare for a couple to have an "amicable breakup" especially if there was a deep profound love on one their parts. I've never seen two people wake up one day and say together:
"Lets end our relationship!"
Usually someone is hurt or brokenhearted.
If the hurt party was me I'm not sure if 8 months would be long enough for me to welcome them into my life as "platonic friend" making small talk about our lives and so on. Amicable just means the person with the broken heart quietly accepted the facts instead of going psycho or seeking revenge. It's not that they're internally fine.
Being a man I know it's not uncommon for guys to reach out to old exes from time to time to test the waters to find out if they could hookup. Some guys really believe;
"Once I've been there I can always get back in."
Reaching out to an ex who is receptive for them is an ego stroke.
