There are more men that feel due to their looks, desperation of women, or delusional mindset that their $10 an hour job is somehow a perfect match for a working professional or executive. Years ago men were ashamed when they couldn't provide for themselves/families. Men that had nothing to offer did not approach professionals-they knew better. Now it seems like an epidemic with men trying to "get over." Women loaning money to men when given sob stories.wth Do you know friends who have been victims financially? Have you been approached by someone attempting to woo you because you were stable?

dasingscorpio, I was going to post my own answer to this question but your response is a hard act to follow. As a matter of fact, what you wrote is a masterpiece.
Thanks feenix! :-)
Let me clarify dashingscorpio, btw-I can appreciate your perspective. Not all men are gold-diggers just because they make less than the woman they approach. My perspective was based largely on class difference.
realtalk247, However you must agree that when it involves a poor young woman who meets the handsome rich prince that sweeps her off her feet it's considered a "romantic fairytale"! No one talks about their class differences.
Double standard? hmm
Your said "..delusional mindset that their $10 an hour job is somehow a perfect match for a working professional or executive." Men have dated or married women who earned less for many years. I believe selecting the wrong mate is #1 cause divorce
I think it's difficult for a man to be with a women that is not on his same page. Pretty Woman is a movie, not real life. Sometimes one can hit the lottery but what life does the executive have with the girl waiting tables at Chili's-not good. Levels
There are many rich male celebrities and athletes that marry women who aren't successful in their own right. Once they're married the women don't have to work. Matt Damon and Nicholas Cage are two guys who married hospitality helpers. It happens.
