Long distance relationships were meant to be temporary!
At some point someone has to decide to relocate in order to make things work. The goal is to (be with) the person you love.
When I met my wife I lived in Southern California and she lived in the Chicago area. After a year of us flying back and forth I relocated.
A long distance relationship without "a light at the end of the tunnel" is likely to fail. It's the counting down the months, weeks, and days until one is done with the inconvenience of being in a long-distance relationship that keeps it strong!
The only real reason for being in a long distance relationship is the belief that he/she is "the one".
If you're just passing time you might as well do that locally.
