Sounds like a question someone would ask when they got their heart broken.
It could also be a question relevant to someone who loves and stays with an abuser.
Either way, what you are experiencing, at best, is one-sided love. Love, when it is reciprocal, is great. One-sided love can be very, very painful. And in the case of abuse, it's toxic and must be given up.
And yet, in some cases, even one-sided love can be great. If you love someone enough to care for them even if they don't love you, that is a great thing. I'm thinking of loving someone vulnerable, like a child or an elderly person, who can resist you for whatever reason, even though you are their care-giver.
Love is often difficult. Movies make it look easy, but it's not. I hope whatever you are going through, you come out the other side and have the courage to love again.
