   Is it too late to get him back if my initial reaction was panic and hurt?
   
   It is now day 2 of the break up, do I still have a chance?

   That would depend on what he did and what you said or did in response. If it was just a "stupid fight" (everyone has had one), then of course there is a possibility, but I wasn't there and I can't speak for him.
   
   I will say that if you love him, you should try.

   It's actually really complicated. He has an ex who he left for me and she has been causing a lot of problems. He ended with me because he needs to sort things out. I am kinda afraid that he is going to go back to her. He says he loves me and he says that he doesn't know what he is doing about her.There are kids involved (not his) but he loves them dearly.

   Sounds like you had every right to freak out.  Your concern is also warrented since he left her for you - and now he's left you and says he doesn't know what to do about her.  I would say she's playing her cards the best way she can to try to get him back. And he is considering it - their relationship continuing has ended yours.  If she has children he adores she may even be using them as a way of getting him back.  If he cannot make a clean break from her then you cannot have a secure relationship with him, simple as that. Because otherwise there will always be 'another woman' involved. He has to sort out what he wants, but if you've already made your feelings for him clear you need to give him space to sort himself out. He's acting like he's playing games and personally I'd be so peeved at him for what he's doing right now I don't know if I'd forgive him. It sounds at least like they're having an 'emotional affair' and you do not have to participate in that.
