Do you normally put more effort into pleasing/impressing a "new lover" than you do with someone

who has committed to you long term? It appears to be very common for people to go the extra mile to "win someone over initially." One would think we'd be more incline to shower more sexual affection on someone who has emotionally invested in a relationship with us for the long term. Maybe it's human nature to pamper "new things" (cars, clothes, furniture...) and so on while taking older things for granted. (including people). What do you think that is?
