After close to 7 years it got to a point where I felt like I was being taken for granted. Even though we were living togehter she was spending more and more time with family, friends, and co-workers.
Sex and romance had declined. The final straw which I didn't view it that way at the time was when she didn't bother to buy me a Christmas card.
I learned a few things starting with:
Communication does not mean "ask and it shall be given".
There are 2 reasons your mate won't give you what you NEED.
1. They don't have it to give
2. They don't feel you're worth the effort to give it to.
(Either way you're dealing with the wrong person)
People change when THEY want to chage.
You don't negotiate love and affection (They're given freely)
You can't maufacture chemistry (It's either there or it's not)
When it comes to romance and passion......
"It's easier to maintain a fire than it is to reignite a spark!"
I realized my happiness is not dependent on anyone other than myself. We all choose our own friends, lovers, and spouses.
The key is to know yourself (wants & needs) and become better at selecting mates who REALLY want what you want.
Life is what you make it.
You can choose to be proactive or reactive.
