Centerpieces with Lights - Waterproof Lights

Updated on May 18, 2013

Using Waterproof Lights for Centerpieces

Centerpieces with lights provide today's brides and events hosts with that extra special touch to make their event stand out in the crowd. Using waterproof lights in your centerpiece is one way to achieve this goal. Whether your DIY centerpieces are fresh florals, submersed fruits or candles, or colored water in clear vases, consider adding waterproof lights in the form of led lighting to give that something extra.

Waterproof lights or submersible lights, are readily available to the public. A few years ago, you would have had to go through a florist or event planner to get them and they were very expensive. Today, they have become an affordable way to decorate for the DIY bride or event host.

Let's have a look at what is available.

White Waterproof Lights for your Centerpieces

Re-usable, waterproof, wireless submersible white LED lights. Lights are about 1.25 inches in diameter by about 0.75 inches high.

Each light uses two CR-2032 batteries (included) and lasts approx. 48 hours. Perfect for lighting up vases and any water filled table centerpiece.

Submersible Floralytes can be used for costumes, masks, place settings, art lighting, interior design

How to Use Waterproof Lights in your Centerpiece

1. Choose a clear vase or bowl . Add filler such as:

floral marbles

gems

crystal or acrylic beads

garland

water jewels

pearl filler

any other filler you choose.

Bury the submersible light in the filler and decorate as you wish. Your centerpiece will glow as the light reflects off the filler and glass container creating ambient lighting.

2.You could also use a colored glass bottle, vase, bowl or container. Add water or filler. Now, simply drop the waterproof light into the container and see the glowing effect created.

How to Use Waterproof Lights - in your Lighted Centerpieces

A little over 3.5 minutes, this video gives a demo of using waterproof lights in your centerpieces.

Waterproof Lights in Centerpieces

I played around with some of the water pearls and items I had here at home and came up with some quick and easy centerpiece ideas. The vase and bowls were filled with water pearls, I added the waterproof lights and some crystal garland.

Simple, easy and a stunning centerpiece.

Here are some other photos of water pearls using colored waterproof lights.

Centerpiece Containers

Mason or canning jars have been around for a while as far as wedding centerpiece ideas. Instead of floating a candle, use a submersible light!

Square vases can be used as the container for your floral centerpiece or for a different filler. These are great!

Filler Options for Making a Centerpiece - Crystals, Water Pearls & More

You can use almost anything as filler in your vases. Here are just a few of the options I have used through the years. Can you some up with something different?

Water pearls can be used as a filler for a container or vase you chose to use for your centerpieces.

Again, just add water and watch these hard beads grow into perfect filler for cut flowers, silk flowers or just to add color to the table.

These deco beads are white and look best when in a centerpiece that sits on a dark colored table cloth.

Add water and you will get aqua colored crystals to use in your centerpieces. Add the waterproof light and you are ready for your event.

The water lights add a lot of wow factor. Instantly takes a centerpiece from nice to amazing. I think these would work great if your hall doesn't allow candles too.
