For Love

Updated on October 25, 2014

What about Love? What about You? How do we Love and Mean it - forever?

Holding their hand, bringing it to your lips, the lightest kiss....

Is it the romance that binds us together or something deeper? Once we get past the initial tingly phase in a relationship, how do we keep it fun and vibrant and growing?

I had the same questions, so I embarked on a journey to find the answers. Come explore with me!

Getting the Relationship You Want

First things First

Do you know if you're in the right relationship to start with? It might be a good idea to find out. There are some tricks to it, however. Here is an easy way to look into the eyes of your love for each other and discover just what's there, and how to make it more of what you are looking for. Try it on, and see how good the two of you are at making it work. It is not necessarily difficult, but it does take some communication. Here is a nice way to break the ice as you move into a more committed relationship.

Another tool I like is to use lists. First make a list of what you love about your partner. Keep it short, only 4 or 5 things. Then make another list of the things you like about your relationship with your partner. Each list should take roughly the same amount of time, and be completed in under 5 to 10 minutes. You're not writing anything in stone, you are just brainstorming.

Then make a list with the same rules about the things you love in yourself. Ask your partner to do the same (all three lists) then compare notes. Finally, make one more list, this time together. Add one more - a goal for the two of you to set and reach together.

Do the Work - Just thinking about it isn't enough

When you read about how to work on your relationship, the best advice I can give you is to grab a pen and pencil and take notes. Then as soon as you put the book down, go take some action and craft a beautiful relationship from your heart. The more your partner sees how you are willing to work at a better life together, the more you can see his or her willingness to work with you, and not against you.

You must be willing to do the work, however.

Are you ready?

What Makes For a Meaningful Relationship?

What Makes For a Meaningful Relationship?

Excerpts from the article by Sara Jeanea

"Eighty percent of life's satisfaction comes from meaningful relationships."

It seems to me to be very true. It really is just people that matter in the long run. Not the material items, not who drives the biggest car, or has the best job, but who was the best partner; who was the best friend; who really cared about the others in their life.

I have expectations. And if I don't get them fulfilled, it may cause a riff in the relationship.

Rule one: Do not expect anything in return. Zero, zip, nada.

Rule two: Do not allow clouds to enter the relationship. The other person may be unhappy, or otherwise in a negative space, but you are not. Remain kind, and understanding. If there is something you can do to make the relationship work...do it.

Rule three: Show respect and kindness to the other person, whether he/she deserves it or not. Remember: no judgments!

Rule four: Don't give up, be always kind.

You may not believe this, but don't be surprised to find when you have taken responsibility for the relationship, the other person does the same. Now we are on the road to a truly meaningful relationship.

About Love - Heart, of course! Singing about love with a Passion!

It is not all about just you and your partner if there are kids involved. Even though the two of you have your own relationship, the nurturing of the love between the two of you and the kids needs attention too. The healthier your relationship is with each other, in general, the relationship with your kids will be, too. But don't neglect the relationship with the kids either. It is a delicate balance and a tough one to get exactly right.

Use your Senses

To Create a More Loving Mood

It does not take a lot of effort or expense to change your environment a little bit, just enough to alter an otherwise ordinary day. A change of scenery is not always possible, but a change of scent is. Take the extra minute or two to create a more loving environment, and explore where that takes you.

Very well done... I'd like to recommend "Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay: A Step-by-Step Guide to Help You Decide Whether to Stay In or Get Out of Your Relationship" It helps you with making a list by helping you examine all facets of your relationship. Someone gave me a copy years ago... I stayed :)
