You could try to stop it by convincing the loved one in question that it's the wrong decision. If you're right, then it'll probably work. If not, then I guess that's fate, my friend. Everything that does happen was supposed to happen that way. Try to intervene. It's not true intervention at all. It's also part of the plan.
