Do you use or have you used online dating to meet someone? Can you classify your experience in...

terms of the good, the bad, the ugly?

Yes I've used online dating sites before and in fact my current boyfriend and I met off of Plenty of Fish.  I know a few other people who've had much success by using this site as well.  While you have many to pick from there are a lot of people who are only looking to hook up and not want to get into anything long-term.  You will need to be careful when you begin checking out people and find out from the beginning what they are interested in.

Yes, I have.  I haven't met Mr. Right yet, but I have met a few people that I will have as lifelong friends.  There are some sincere people on those sites, but alot of players, so you really have to weed through people carefully and realize that what say in their profiles is not always what they mean.

I met the man I just married, this past summer, on Match.com 6 years ago...the best thing that ever happened to me.

Although, I did have some interesting encounters (which I have gone into some detail about in my "Online Dating" hub)

Some guys prefer on-line dating but I see more dissappointments when they meet. If you meet someone in person and ask them out, then you know what they look like already and have a bit of chemistry going on before you go out. I don't use on-line dating because I automatically meet alot of people in what I do which is acting and auditioning.

I have used online dating and I would classify my experience as all three; the good, the bad, and the ugly. I would get messages from real creepers, some of them very consistently and on a multiple-times-per-day basis. I met a guy or two that I simply didn't have a connection with, or for one case in particular, was incredibly boooorriiing. But then I also met a very nice, funny, ambitious, attractive guy that I ended up having a real connection with (but he moved so it didn't last). But I would promote online dating any day. You will probably meet some wackos, but you can meet those at bars, too (and it's even harder to get them away from you in that setting, lol). But you can also meet some normal people that just want to find love. :-)

I got very, very lucky.  I joined my first online dating service in April of 2009 and met someone with five months.  I only belonged to two services.  It can get frustrating but I really encourage sticking with it for a while.  I met my husband this way, so I'm obviously a big fan.  Here's a hub I wrote about how we met.

    Good luck!
